Training To Become A Teacher at Princethorpe

Thinking of becoming a teacher? Then why not consider training at Princethorpe College.

Whether you are a new graduate or contemplating a career change, we have opportunities available across the subjects but particularly for those with a Maths or Science degree. 

Though our association with the Lion Alliance, we offer a year’s training as part of the School Direct scheme, leading to Qualified Teacher Status. Placements would be at Princethorpe and also at other schools within the Lion Alliance. Our training is supported by Warwick University, Birmingham City University and by our experienced mentors here.

Now in its third year our successful scheme also attracts bursaries from the government of between £7,000 and £24,000 to support those training in Chemistry, Computing, Maths, Physics, Languages and Biology.

    Taking fundraising at Princethorpe to new heights

     

    This is an exciting opportunity, in an impressive group of schools, to significantly increase long-term philanthropic income by establishing a strategic fundraising programme for bursaries and capital projects based on best practice and sound experience, particularly in the area of major gifts.

     

    Founded in 1966, Princethorpe College is a Catholic, co-educational, HMC independent day school, near Rugby, for around 900 pupils aged 11-18.   It is part of the Princethorpe Foundation which also includes Crackley Hall School and The Crescent School which together have over 450 pupils aged 2-11. The Foundation prides itself on being a warm, kind and caring organisation, as well as being disciplined and aspirational. Central to its ethos is its renowned ‘Spirit of Family’.

    The Development Director will have responsibility for fundraising and establishing a long-term culture of giving at Princethorpe.  Excellent foundations have been laid in terms of alumni relations, data and fundraising campaigns, and the appointee will join a well-established and enthusiastic team.  Exciting opportunities lie with major gifts, fundraising for a new £8 million Science Centre and the scope to play a critical role in the long-term success of the Foundation.  Reporting to the Head, the Development Director will sit on the Princethorpe College leadership team.

     

    The successful candidate will be required to build a comprehensive fundraising strategy encompassing all elements of the fundraising mix for a wide and inspiring set of causes including life-changing bursaries, state-of-the-art facilities and other major capital projects. The role, focusing primarily on Princethorpe initially, is most likely suited to a highly experienced and passionate development professional with a proven track record of raising funds along with expertise in securing major gifts, regular giving, legacies, prospect pipeline management, campaigns, stewardship, relationship management, strategy and planning.  The experience and gravitas to build relationships and secure donations and support at all levels is also essential.

Opportunities at Princethorpe College

From time to time we look to recruit additional teaching and support staff in the following areas:

  • Exam Invigilators – to assist in the smooth running of internal and public examinations
  • SEND support staff – for in-class, small group and one-to-one work with pupils
  • Cover Teaching Staff – being part of a team available for short-term and long-term supply work
  • Games Coaching – to assist with our wide-ranging sports programme
