The Princethorpe Foundation

A shared ethos

The Princethorpe Foundation welcomes children of all faiths and backgrounds and provides
co-educational, independent day schooling with a strong Christian ethos for children aged two to eighteen years.

The Princethorpe Foundation welcomes children of all faiths and backgrounds and provides co-educational, independent day schooling with a strong Christian ethos.

We support and nurture some 1,300 children from age two to eighteen years, through Little Crackers Nursery, Crackley Hall School, Crescent School and Princethorpe College.

Princethorpe College and Crackley Hall School, are the only Catholic independent senior and junior school in the county. The Crescent School in Bilton, Rugby, joined the Foundation in September 2016.

Our schools are characterised by their strong Christian ethos and pride themselves on providing a caring, stimulating environment in which children’s individual needs can be met and their talents, confidence and self-esteem developed. We aim to encourage a lifelong love of learning and an understanding of moral values, and to put young people on the road to happy and fulfilled lives.

  • 15 Aug19/08/15 08:52:59 Princethorpe College

Princethorpe College is delighted to be celebrating another excellent set of A-level results. 94 students sat A-level examinations and completed the extended project qualification this summer. 30% have been awarded A* or A grades and over three-quarters of all grades received are A* to C. Impressively there are seventeen high fliers who achieved three or more A* or A grades. Ed Hester, Headmaster said, "These students have worked so hard and we are incredibly proud of their achievements. We were particularly pleased that in addition to their A-levels, this year over half the cohort completed the extended project qualification, which is so highly respected by universities and employers alike. It was also lovely to receive amazing feedback from the A-level Art moderators who were bowled over by the quality of the artwork by all our six A* A-level art students." Ed Hester, continued, "We are thrilled that our students have achieved such good grades but also, more importantly, that the overwhelming majority have been accepted to study at their university of choice or on their chosen apprenticeship scheme. We have had another great year and today's results show that the hard work of both students and staff has been rewarded. We are proud of their academic achievements, but these students have many other fine qualities: kindness, respect and a strong sense of right and wrong, which will be tremendously important for them as they move on to the next phase of their lives. We congratulate them all on their success and wish them the very best for the future".

With A-level results due out this Thursday (15 August), a reminder to our leavers of 2019 that our network of OP Friendly Faces are waiting to help you in your next steps post Princethorpe. OP Friendly Faces aims to link past pupils established at university with first year OP students. Providing a friendly, familiar face to meet up with over a coffee (compliments of the OPs) or having someone to call in your new uni town or city, does, we know, make for a smoother experience in those first few weeks away from home. Laurence Chapman, who is going into his second year at the University of Leicester studying Law, benefited from the initiative last year and is keen to take up the challenge, he comments, "I was given an Old Princethorpian contact, Melissa Scott, who has just graduated. It was great to have a friendly face and she was very helpful to me last year, so I would like to do the same for another Princethorpe student." We have over 40 Friendly Faces at universities around the UK, so if you have yet to sign up, do so on Results Day or email oldprincethorpians@princethorpe.co.uk.

  • 12 Aug19/08/12 14:18:34 Princethorpe College

Over the summer holidays a lot of work goes on behind the scenes readying the College for the start of the academic year. This year is no exception, with amongst other things improvements being made to the first floor teaching corridor and the installation of new boilers to keep everyone warm and cosy once summer is a dim memory. One other part of the school receiving some much needed TLC at the moment is the College clock, which was manufactured in 1861 and has been lovingly tended for decades by former Head of Chemistry, John Miller and Estatesman, Gerry Lovely. The clock takes the form of a cast iron chair frame design movement with hour strike and ting tang quarter chimes. A phased restoration is currently underway starting with the stonework around the clock tower, which has been looking rather sorry for itself and refurbishment of some of the internal workings and the dials. The Cumbria Clock Company, church and public clock specialists, have been entrusted to undertake the work and will fit a new autowinding unit this summer and next year the clock movement will be dismantled and taken off site for cleaning. We look forward to hearing those distinctive bells ringing again very soon.
