Foundation Pupils Make Plans For A Mock Climate Conference
Pupils from Princethorpe College’s Planet Princethorpe team and Crescent School’s Green Team met on Wednesday 11 June to begin planning a Foundation Schools’ Mock Climate Conference that will coincide with the United Nations COP30 that is taking place in November later this year.
It was the first time that the schools’ eco teams had met so they began the session by sharing their environmental activities and achievements within their respective schools. Pupils then broke into mixed school groups to generate ideas and activities for the mock conference before reconvening to share all their suggestions.
Pupils’ passion for the environment was clear to see with lots of creative ideas for conference activities that would raise awareness, educate and engage the wider school communities with sustainability. From a Headmasters’ question and answer panel to environmental competitions and games, hearing from external speakers, to planting activities, setting recycling challenges to climate conversations, it was great to see our young people engaging actively and coming up with so many innovative and great ideas.
It was a very productive meeting for all involved. Thank you to all the pupils and staff who took part. It was inspiring to see your enthusiasm for tackling climate change.
